Updates not working nokia n97

Installed 1.0-RC6 last week, worked "out of the box".
Stopped working, upgraded to 1.0 and now 1.0.1 - still not working.
Not a programmer - just trying to set up a website to register people through phones.
What should I be looking at to change.
Using a Nokia n97 to test. Don't have an iphone.

In particular the CanType menu item is what I want to develop into a phone site, it will be on a new URL if I can get it working.

Works well, but I'd add some css to fix rendering of com_proforms (like "table.m4j_form_table td{vertical-align:top}" and "table.m4j_form_table textarea, table.m4j_form_table input{padding:0}").
