Can someone please tell me just how many different models of phones are supported? I would like to use the number in marketing?

Using WURFL database MJ allows to correctly detect almost all know devices. These devices are divided into 4 groups: WAP (ancient phones with WAP1.0 support only), i-Mode (Japanese DoCoMo phones), PDA (most of smartphones and cellphones), iPhoneOS-based (iPhone/iPod).
