What is new and why to use Mobile Joomla - Basic Doubt

Hello, I am using Joomla for long. It seems Joomla by itself works in Mobiles. So what is the real use of Mobile Joomla?

Does this create many different templates for each mobile platform?
Will the color scheme maintained?

Please explain the real use of this in detail.
