Advantages of using MobileJoomla over Template Frameworks

Hello guys,

I just recently found out about Mobile Joomla. Thanks to @mobilejoomla for following me on Twitter.

I'm looking into Template Frameworks out there that offers mobile support. Rockettheme has Gantry, Joomlart has T3, Prothemer has Morph, etc. Most template frameworks offer ways to customize a template for Mobile browsing. And all of them are good!

So here's my question, what would be the advantage of using MobileJoomla as a full-pledge extension system for supporting Mobile devices? Those template frameworks seem to do a good job already.

I'm asking this because we're opening up a template club, MagicThemes. I'm looking into MobileJoomla as a platform we can use in supporting Mobile Devices instead of coding from scratch like other template frameworks did. If MobileJoomla truly has advantages over those frameworks, then we will just release MobileJoomla version of our templates.

I'd take it that silence means what it means. . .

MobileJoomla is more than just a template switcher. It allows you to have correctly resized images for any device, remove of html tags that may lead to problem in mobile devices, have a special homepage for them, etc.

Hi Israel, Interesting question and idea, I will look at your site,

I've installed MobileJoomla on a site, it works and I'm looking for a template which fits the business of my client and the desktop-template I'm using.

For example, Joomlart has some nice templates: JA Seleni (end-2009) and JA Social (sept-2010 and based on T3-version 2): The mobile version of these templates look nice and well designed.
Would it be possible to use JA Seleni as the template for iphone in Mobile Joomla ? I think that module-position should be renamed at the least, but what other issues will I run into?

Does anyone has experience with this approach?
