Can mobile joomla be used as a mobile social portal

Newbie here and total non tech.....but require your help.

We are seeking a solution that can be used as a mobile portal. The most important feature we are trying to find out is that if i created a profile using MJ and took the url and created a 2d barcode from it, when scanned using a mobile phone will it format perfectly for mobile?

In theory: yes, it's possible. But I've never tried to do it in practice. Just some ideas:
1. JomSocial extension has special "mobile" view.
2. I don't remember how JomSocial determines "mobileness", so maybe it will be necessary to make a plugin to set corresponding JomSocial mode on the base of MJ data.
3. There are a lot of QR-code modules on JED.
