well, my first encounter with mobile wasn't what I'd hoped..
I'd hoped for an out of the box experience but after installing and browsing to my site on an htc desire everything is just..well, gone...
From the reviews and the video I watched my impression was that I really just needed to install the component..

My front page (www) is a yootheme template and consists of modules only. No real text area.
The most important part of my site is my forum..
I am using agora forum.

Is there any way to setup mobile to properly show a forum and forum posts... including images etc?

I know this post isn't really that specific but I'm really just hoping for some guidance..!

I looked at the Agora site for documentation but it requires a subscription.
You mentioned modules so I suspect that you will need to make a copy of them and publish them to a position in the mobile templates, such as mj_all_middle.
Joomla admin backend
extensions > module manager
copy module and edit it.

One of the reasons why we (mobilejoomla.com) moved from Agora to Kunena was that Agora doesn't support template overriding at all, so that it's impossible to create a special mobile template for Agora.
