The website tells me to Enable Mobile Joomla! Ad Remover in Extensions - Plugin Manager, however, there is no suck plugin. How do I remove the ads?

Did you download and install the extension?

Once it is installed you have to Enable the plug in.
Go to: Extensions > Plugin Manager > ----find it and enable it.
