ok, I am now feeling rather stupid...real noob feeling going on here. So heres a stupid question.

Do I actually need seperate domain names for the templates to work?

MobileJoomla installs mobilebot plugin that is responsible for automatic changing of template on the basis of users device (actually, on the basis of browser's "user agent string") and MJ settings. So, in most cases it is sufficient to just install MJ (it is the idea of MJ: to make mobile version of a site in one click).

Of course, if you would like to customize mobile versions of site, you could add some modules into positions of mobile templates, edit css files of templates, etc.

No. Special subdomains for mobile versions of a site is just an option.

Thank you so much for your quick replies Denis, I really appreciate it.

So - I have installed the package and the plugins and the modules are enabled. I have tested the site using www.iphonetester.com/ but the site still looks exactly the same.

I must be doing something wrong?? Sorry for all this.

iphonetester.com doesn't change "user agent string", and it is not an actual emulator as it uses your browser to load and render page. Try to use Firefox browser with UserAgentSwitcher extension to working with iphonetester.com. The typical "User Agent String" of iPhone is "Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU like Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/420+ (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.0 Mobile/1A543a Safari/419.3" (without quotes).

Background: I'm trying to use both JomSocial and Kuneri Mobile on one Joomla! site. Accessing the normal site pages works fine. Accessing the JomSocial main page results in this error.

I'm guessing from what has been written so far that there may be something special going on with the way that JomSocial is displaying pages that bypasses the use of the mobilebot and thus shows this error. Is that right? If so then some clues about how to figure out what's going on and to resolve it would be really useful. I'm not at all shy about wailing on PHP code, having done that for 9 years now, but do need a clue as to how to resolve this. Thanks!

the plugin works fine.
The error you are getting "Incorrect using of Kuneri Mobile Joomla." is because you might have set the joomla template as iphone or wap or smart...set it to normal PC template, enable the mobile bot from plugin, clear and purge the cache on joomla server, pc and phone. My site works fine with this plugin.
