Problems with markupchooser

Still using php4.3.

After upgrading from v0.9.8 to 0.9.9 the error above occured. After deactivating markupchooser it seems to work. But this can't be the solution, can it?

Replace "static" (3 instances) in modules/mod_mj_markupchooser/helper.php by "var".

Thanks for your quick answer. I did as told but still get the same error unfortunately.
