I have created a Mobile Menu for my mobile template. I would like to have one of the main mobile menu items bring up a submenu (another page is fine). Can anyone describe how I can do this? Am I missing something obvious?

Have a look at
www.mobilejoomla.com/forum/topic.html?id=453
Let me know if it helps or not.

PS I just noticed a typo in the item but it won't allow me to edit it,
so it should read
Make multiple copies of mod_mj_iphone_menu in the module manager.
========
not
Make multiple copies of mod_mj_imode_menu in the module manager.
Last Edit: 13 years, 9 months ago by Barnabas. Reason: to identify typo

I want to do this too, and want it working from my main menu, which is arranged like this

Parent item 1
- Child item 1
- Child item 2
- Child item 3
Parent item 2
- Child item 4

I don't want my client to have to create new menus for the mobile version, for each set of child items - I need it all working from the main menu...

You can use default joomla's menu module to display menu in such a way.

Ok, use mod_mainmenu? Then what? Publish it to mj_iPhone? Are there instructions somewhere?

OK,
Suppose you have a menu set up with parents and children:
Menu name is mymobilemenu
entries are
Parent1
Child11
Child12
Parent2
Child21
Parent3
then you would
extensions >module manager
put menu in the filter and click go so that you can see the menu modules.
edit the one for the iphone. (mod_mj_iphone_menu )
enable
position mj_iphone_middle
menu assignment menus * all
parameters > Module Parameters
on the drop down for menuname select mymobilemenu.
save

now when you view the site using the iphone temlate you will see
Parent1
Parent2
Parent3

when you click on Parent1 you will see
Child11
Child12

You will need to do the same for the 3 other types (XHTML, Imode, WAP)
The other templates, for the other types of mobile, show the child items below,
so
Parent1 Parent2 Parent3
click on Parent1 you will still see the 3 Parents
and the Children of the Parent1

Parent1 Parent2 Parent3
Child11 Child12

Hope this helps.

Ok, I did exactly what you said to do, EXCEPT I am using 'mainmenu' not a seperate 'mobilemenu'. Is that the problem? Do you have to create a seperate menu for the mobile site if the menu will be exactly the same as the desktop site?

I have the seperate mobile module activated for iPhone, but not a second menu.

Hi,
It should work with mainmenu.
What is the url? So I can try to duplicate it on a test site.
You can send it via a private message if it is not public.
Thanks.

Hi,
I experimented on a test site and have found that the menu which has the "default" star does not show the child items below that starred item.
So if mainmenu was

Parent item 1____*__ default
- Child item 1
- Child item 2
- Child item 3
Parent item 2
- Child item 4

then it would show as
Parent item 1
Parent item 2

and when you click on Parent item 2 you will see Child item 4
but when you click on Parent item 1, it will not show you the children.
I do not know why this is happening.
