I have been having a problem and I think it has to do with the cache. When I install mobilejoomla everything is great... For a short time! Looks like it depends on the visitor activity. So I installed CompojoomCache which I found on joomla extensions. I have tested it with blackberry, android and useragent switcher with firefox. It creates a separate cache file for each type of device.

Now the site seems to be running smooth except for the fact that I had to remove my livesite url from the config so mobilejoomla works. It has some sort of issue with sh404sef and is adding my sitename into the links when mobile joomla is enabled.
