We're having problems with the mobile detection, so I'd like to put a link on the standard page that would link to the mobile page. What would the format be for this? Also this would be an easier way to get back to the mobile version of the page after someone chooses to go to the standard version.

One way to do this is to make a copy of the select markup module and publish it to footer.

extensions > module manager
type "select" in filter and click go (do not type the quotes).
Then copy it, enable it and change the position to footer. save.

Does that do what you want?

PS you need to also make sure that
Parameters > Module Parameters
Hide for PC browsers --- is set to no(*)
but you probably guessed that
Last Edit: 13 years, 9 months ago by Barnabas. Reason: Hide for PC browsers (*) no

Thank you for the tip. Only problem I have is that when I go back to the page with my iphone even after I have cleared the cookies and cache on my phone it stays at the standard version if I had previously selected that. I have to manual click mobile version to go back. Does the site remember the phone for awhile?

I do not know. Sometimes a site explicitly uses Joomla cache
Global Configuration > System > Cache Settings

Sometimes it uses a Joomla extension to provide cache.

Mobile Joomla can set cache on the browser
Components >Mobile Joomla > Settings
Caching disable/global
Browser caching disable/enable

and sometimes it just seems to get stuck in standard version as you describe.
Clearing all cookies (domain and session) and cache can sometimes free it up.

MobileJoomla remember last users choise both in cookies and joomla's session, but usually clearing cookies should reset markup to initial (autodetermined) state.

Also set "Browser caching: Disable", because many phones doesn't support correct changing of "markup" of cached pages.
