Hello,

I have installed a fresh version of Joomla 1.6 and through the extension manager I installed Mobile-Joomla (0.9.12). This installed successfully. I left all settings as default (i.e. - for example DID NOT set Domain (multisite) support to yes). I created a new menu named MobileMenu. I added a new menu item named MobileHome. I set thos to show featured articles. I then went to Module Manager and selected my menu for mj_iphone_middle. I went to iphonetester.com/ and tested my site. However I am still recieving the old site that is the site for my PC!! What am I doing wrong. I followed the tutorial given in the docs.

Regards,
Sim085

I am not sure if mobile joomla works with 1.6 yet and not all mobile browser simulators work that good.

Not able to test on mobile phone?

I just installed 0.9.12 in much the same way on a 1.5.13 version. Settings as default and created a new Mobile Menu as in docs. Used mj_iphone_middle and assigned items to each menu type.

I believe I followed the configuration properly as per docs on this site and then used the iphonetester.com site emulator to test.

All i get is "Error:"

I tried a few other emulators also as per  your suggestion but its the same on www.mobilephoneemulator.com (best emulator i've seen so far)

Blank on emulator.mtld.mobi > Sony K750 / N70

My site URL is www.galwaytoday.com

Hi,

On Iphone and Nokia E7 I get the mobile site. Not yet a lot of content

For a fine emulator try : www.puresimstudios.com/ibbdemo/ (iphone and Ipad)

It works for Iphone and if you will change the mobile config settings in your joomla cms it will work as well for Ipad
cheers.

Hi people,

I can confirm it works on Joomla 1.6! What I did is I followed the video tutorial in docs to the letter and it worked fine. basically you need to create a subdomain iphone.mysite.com that points to the location where you have the joomla installation for mysite. You then set 'Domain (multisite) support' to Yes and it worked fine.

The problem in my case is that I wanted users to be able to insert mysite.com and be redirected to the iphone site automatically. This does not seem to be working or else I have some wrong setting.

I have 'Domain (multisite) support' to Yes and 'Redirect to domain' for iPhone/iPad to Yes as well. However when Insert mysite.com I get my PC site!! I need to insert iphone.mysite.com in order to get the iPhone site.

Is there a way how I can load the iphone site automatically when I insert mysite.com?

EDIT:
I did some tests on a real iphone and it seems the problem might be with the testing site I am using (iphonetester.com/). On a real iPhone I entered mysite.com and I got redirected successfully to iphone.mysite.com. With Domain (multisite) support' to No I got the mobile version on mysite.com

So it seems it is ok.

I too have or had the same problems. Maybe still do if my client still can't click on links. I was testing the site on the iphone tester site but all I saw was the actual site. But one of the posters here mentioned that he used the best tester called www.mobilephoneemulator.com/ . It is advanced than the other. When I tried the site in www.mobilephoneemulator.com, it shows the iphone version of the site with all links on the left side but the links were dead. Does not work. Then I went back into Joomla backend, went to the Mobile Joomla component, selected SETTINGS, then selected IPHONES , then where it says iPhone/iPod Settings, I changed it from Iphone mode to my actual joomla template i'm using. Then I went to the www.mobilephoneemulator.com again and tried the site. Now it shows the actual web site with all menus and links working in the Iphone tester. But for some reason, when Mobile Joomla is set to Iphones in the component, I can see the Iphone version in www.mobilephoneemulator.com but menu links dont work at all. Don't know why.

You are sure your directories are writeble and do you have enough memory?
You have to check this.

Solution CHMOD temporarily dirs to 777 ( and for security reasons re-chmod back to 755 ) and in case not enough mem. contact your hosting provider
