Hi, from my understanding, Mobile Joomla allows to define a total of 9 modules; 3 modules above pathway, 3 modules between pathway and component and 3 modules below component. However what if I have more then 9 modules to show? For example in my site, above pathway (which I understand header), I have 4 modules to show ... language selector, top menu, main menu, and search. However Mobile Joomla only gives me 3 place holders.

Not modules, but module positions. Each position can contain unlimited number of modules.

Yes I know what you mean, and understand that like that it would work (From Module Manager I assign multiple modules to the same position and then from Mobile Joomla I map that position to one of the available 9 place holders, right?).

So if I may change my question a little, why does Mobile Joomla need to limit to 9 the number of place holders that can be mapped to?

What I did is I created a template that mimics the place holders I already have. Like that I hoped to avoid having to create modules specifically for the mobile site (by reusing the ones I already had). However, if this is not possible then I will have to define a new position in my mobile templateDetails.xml and then create two (or four being multilingual) other modules from the Module Manager with both modules pointing to the same position. Then I would have this position mapped to the wanted place holder provided by Mobile Joomla. Although all this is possible, I was hoping there might be an easier solution (for those situations where two modules where not placed in the same position in the desktop site).
