I'm a newbie to mobile websites but have been developing joomla sites for a couple of years now.
I wonder which of the preset templates should I use for an android phone?
Is it possible to create custom styles also and how and where do you define those?

I would highly appreciate any kind of tips and tricks.

Since noone seem to know how (or bother ) I have been doing this the hard way... Meaning testing and swearing and testing and testing and finally got myself a wee mobile site that works allrite.
Still though there are some small mysteries.
If you surf to my page: http://gagneffiske.se there's a menu immediately on the start page it looks as I want it except from one little thing... letters should be bold.
I have tried everything to find where I can stat the font-weight: bold; property but nothing sem to affect the font-weight.
Is there anyone who knows the trick i would highly appreciate it.

By the way I use a Samsung Galaxy S2 and the theme is mobile_pda template for smartphones.
I have been fiddling around with the custom.css file a bit in order to set some styling to the typo and so.

Cheers for the kind words Phil, I'm getting closer to a final good look every day

I ran into a whole bunch of 'em doing it and still do  But for a starter Mobile Joomla has all the modules built already, however to use the menu modules i would suggest you create a copy of your main menu like the tutorial under the Docs section here. When that is done you can start playing around with the custom.css file (that is empty by default) and set up all required params for menus etc. Have a look at this thread
Good luck.
By the way is there anyone who knows how to style the header?
I have been using Mobile Joomlas header but it's hard to put any styling on it... I would like to have no margin or padding as I am using a logotype and to have it looking good there should be no margins to other elements.
But where can I set up those params?

A guide to general styling on this site would be great.
For example what I suppose many others also would like is a simple guide on which files to set up CSS styles in and where I can do the changes to have template overrides. Examples is the best practise...
I miss such things here otherwise it's a really great component.

I am about to undertake two mobile website projects. So I will look into the header styling first to see if I can contibute to your question.

Maybe you know of a way of viewing the android and iphone styles on a desk top browser?

I don't I'm afraid, I am also looking for this option but unfortunately there's as far as i know no such plug-ins like firebug etc. for this kind of things so I guess we have to stumble in the dark and find out the hard way.

I have another delicate problem.

1. All of my heading styles (h3, h4, h5 etc.) have totally disappeared on all sub-articles, they show up on the start page with the menu and "AKTUELLT" module but when I go to an article they have disappeared.
I have tried to implement the styling from the original joomla site for all those (in this case h4-tags) but still they are invisible.
Someone who has a solution to this?
I use Joomla 1.5.25 and the latest Mobile Joomla (updated yesterday to RC5).
Please please please with sugar on top someone in the admin or so must have a solution, a simple one also I suppose.

url?device=iphone for the iphone template. For a permanent switch to mobile style presentation, publish the 'always' plugin and configure it for the template you want
If it doesn't work straight away, clear cookies. Similarly, if you want to return to normal display and it gets stuck in a mobile template, clear cookies.

Thanks doorknob! This helps a bit on the way!

I still have a problem though...
Why does the usage of www in the url makes the site show different than not using it?
for example:
www.gagneffiske.se styles the site different than gagneffiske.se
Is there some settings that I haven't figured out yet that has to be done or is this something I have to talk to the domainadmin in order to fix?
