Downloading wurfl.sourceforge.net/wurfl.zip
Error: Cannot open remote file.

Downloading wurfl.sourceforge.net/web_browsers_patch.xml
Error: Cannot open remote file.

Simply not able to download the files, any good to download them manually?
The strange thing is that these links are clickable and the files can be found, in the Mobile Joomla back-end they can not be opened.

Perhaps has something to do with server PHP settings? URL_Fopen? This is turned off on our server due to security reasons.

Manually all seems to work right now...
wurfl.xml is huge btw, more than 14 MB!

Forced cache update.............. 100%
All lights are green!

All looks pretty need! europeanairsoftassociation.eu/

Hey gjrweb, that's nice news. Most probably it is your server's security settings not letting to download the file, but manually placing them is one of the workarounds, yes.
WURFL is a big chunk indeed, but it is good to have it for a nice, fine-tuned device coverage

Check the red URL adresses under the WURFL tab. The exact path is mentioned there.
In my case administrator/components/com_mobilejoomla/wurfl/data/
All WURFL data should be stored in this folder...

And you have to manually create the map "multicache" in this folder. This can be easily done in a FTP program or in your control panel. Just choose "create new folder" or something alike. The path will be administrator/components/com_mobilejoomla/wurfl/data/multicache/

The .xml opens in the browser, you have to save the page as .xml

cache.php will be created automatically ones you finish the "force cache update"...

In the end all signs should be green and OK.

administrator/components/com_mobilejoomla/wurfl/data/ Writeable
administrator/components/com_mobilejoomla/wurfl/data/wurfl.xml OK [05.01.2010 05:07:03]
administrator/components/com_mobilejoomla/wurfl/data/web_browsers_patch.xml OK [05.01.2010 05:04:46]
administrator/components/com_mobilejoomla/wurfl/data/cache.php OK [05.01.2010 05:09:54]
administrator/components/com_mobilejoomla/wurfl/data/multicache/ OK [05.01.2010 05:10:03]

administrator/components/com_mobilejoomla/wurfl/wurfl_class.php OK
administrator/components/com_mobilejoomla/wurfl/wurfl_config.php OK
administrator/components/com_mobilejoomla/wurfl/wurfl_parser.php OK
administrator/components/com_mobilejoomla/wurfl/wurfl_download.php OK
administrator/components/com_mobilejoomla/wurfl/update_cache.php OK
administrator/components/com_mobilejoomla/wurfl/imageadaptation.php OK

Omg I dont know how to create cache. Can someone not create a step by step guide for doing it manually seeing as a few of us are having problems. That would be a helpful thing to do.

Well, the wiki page on installation could be of some help for starters (www.mobilejoomla.com/wiki/Installation)

In addition, component installation page as well mentions the ver 2 steps required to be done.
But if you're still in trouble to run it properly, it might be of some other cause. In that case we'd kindly request from you to explain what is the spesifics of your experience while trying to create the cache.

The wiki is (not yet) showing how to download the WURFL files automatically, nor manually.
